FAQ

Does it really produce no smoke?

Timber Stoves are designed for an extremely clean burn using wood pellets. During normal operation there is virtually no visible smoke and no unpleasant odours.

Does it require electricity?

No. Timber Stoves operate entirely without electricity, batteries or moving parts.

How long does a full load of pellets last?

Depending on the model, burn time ranges from approximately 1.5 to 2.5 hours on a single fill of pellets.

How much heat does a Timber Stove produce?

Depending on the model, Timber Stoves produce between 21 and 26 kW of heat output, providing comfortable radiant warmth with a heating radius of up to 3.5 metres.

Can a Timber Stove be used under a covered patio or pergola?

Yes, Timber Stoves can be used under a covered patio, pergola or canopy, provided it is not a fully enclosed space and there is sufficient airflow and oxygen circulation. Always maintain a minimum clearance of 80 cm on all sides, including above the heater.

Is a Timber Stove expensive to run?

Timber Stoves compare favourably on running costs. Because output differs between heat sources, the fair comparison is cost per kilowatthour rather than cost per hour: pellets approximately €0.07, propane €0.24–€0.35, electricity €0.23 (excl. VAT, indicative). Sources: Timberstoves Europe (pellet cost), ANWB (LPG prices 2025–2026), propane energy density 13.9 kWh/kg, selectra.nl (Dutch all-in electricity price, August 2026).

What fuel does it use?

Timber Stoves are designed to burn standard wood pellets, which are widely available, easy to store and highly efficient.

Is it safe around children and guests?

Timber Stoves burn a real flame and become hot during use, so supervision is required  as with any outdoor fire. Three things help: maintain 80 cm of clearance on all sides, place the heater on a stable surface (a heat pad is available), and add the optional Safety Cage to prevent accidental contact with hot surfaces. The base plate and hopper stay cool enough to touch by hand during operation.
